Find joy in June

La Motte
June brings many unexpected joys to the Franschhoek Valley.

Although the autumn leaves entertained everyone with their beautiful colours, the La Motte garden team is relieved that they are done for the year and had a proper celebration when the winter rain arrived. And while it seems a little cruel for La Motte’s beautiful oak trees to face winter without their foliage, their stark and bare branches create a romantic ambience against the historic Cape Dutch buildings. What a beautiful picture! Now add warming wines, delightful winter menus and special offers – plenty of reason to take a winter winelands drive!

A sunny spot

Please note: The La Motte bakery will be closed for a winter break from 17 June and will reopen in time for the Bastille Festival on 10 July.

Simmer with Sauvignon

While a trusted choice in sunny weather and for those who appreciate a refreshing aperitif, the 2024 La Motte Sauvignon Blanc also charms with wintery salads and warming seafood recipes.

What to expect: Nuances of dried grass add depth to the aromas of gooseberry and lime, while the palate is supple and smooth despite the freshness of the acidity.

Try it with a generous portion of pan-fried squid with lemon and smoked paprika.

Father’s Day perfected

With exceptional maturation potential the 2021 La Motte Cabernet Sauvignon is a treasured gift for dads with cellars while its flavourful intensity makes it a natural partner to red meat and perfect for dads who like to braai!

What to expect: Intense berry and plum, clove spice and mint as well as cigar box and oak-derived toffee. Ample tannins and a full palate with an opulent consistency and a persistent finish.

Treat carnivore friends to rosemary and garlic lamb chops in a sticky fig marinade!
