The Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative's Premium Committee decided to assist school-going learners from the Breedekloof community with their school uniforms at the start of the 2024 school year.
We are fortunate that all our Fairtrade children have access to basic education and good schools in the area.
However, it should be noted that with schooling there are various factors that play a big role in a child's school experience, as well as their willingness to go to school. One of those factors are clothing – the school uniform. Being able to wear a proper school uniform that is still in good condition, can improve a learner’s morale, sense of belonging and their confidence. These are all factors that have a great impact on the success of their academics and other school activities.
That's why, with the start of 2024, the Fairtrade Premium Committee decided to assist school-going learners with their school uniforms. In total they assisted 222 learners, by providing them with two basic school button-up shirts, and either school trousers or a skirt. Additionally, by providing the basics of the school uniform, they are also assisting parents by alleviating the financial pressures that could come from providing for their children’s schooling and related activities.
