Klein Joostenberg is a leafy family-friendly destination for lunches, picnics and delicious deli shopping.

A rural enclave of farm-fresh food, shaded verandahs and wide open lawns in the Stellenbosch Winelands, Klein Joostenberg has grown from working farm to a country destination with something for everyone. Kick back with friends and family over breakfasts and lazy lunches at the bistro, picnic in the shade of the trees on the lawns while the kids run free, or stop by to stock up on fresh produce, meat and deli goodies (although it’s tempting to grab coffee and cake, turning a quick one-stop shop into a lingering morning of good life vibes).

Halfway between Stellenbosch, Durbanville and Paarl (and just off the N1) Klein Joostenberg is an ideal meeting spot, a green oasis that beckons when you’re on a road trip.

The Joostenberg Bistro

Unfussy, French-inspired, local seasonal fare is the theme at the homely farm bistro. Chefs Garth Bedford and Akram Apollis devise simple, ingredient-led menus that change often, everything made from scratch and sourced from the surrounding farms.

Breakfasts of French toast with fynbos honey and bacon, filled omelettes, bacon and eggs (or oysters and bubbly to strike a celebratory note)...

Picnic on the lawns
