Springfield Estate enters the Cap Classique world with the release of their Garuzis Brut.

The maiden vintage of Springfield Estate's Garuzis Brut, a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, will be released on the 12th of December 2023.

Garuzis – pronounced Guh-ROOT-zies – is a place in what is now known as Etosha National Park, Namibia, where the Bruwer's great-grandmother grew up in the wild. It was here that their forefathers and their families took their livestock during the dry seasons.

Then without borders or fences, Garuzis was named after the abundant rock pools and shallow water available there. Living there for months at a time, their ancestors built houses on stilts and enclosures to protect their livestock from predators. The stories that were told of their time there were magical, featuring lions and elephants and all kinds of mischief.

Springfield named their Cap Classique after this special place, as a tribute to their granny and her pioneering spirit. Aged for 30 months on the lees, this wine is made in the traditional méthode, with notes of fresh granny smith apple, lime, and white peaches that are beautifully complimented by hints of brioche, honey, and almonds and a zesty freshness.
