The Du Preez Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2023 entices with a lively bouquet of tropical fruits, including ripe guava, juicy granadilla, and hints of bell pepper and gooseberry. Aromas range from green to ripe, adding complexity to the experience.
At the AWC VIENNA - Gala Wine Night, held amidst the imperial ambience of Vienna City Hall’s Grand Ballroom, there was a double celebration: the 20th anniversary of the AWC VIENNA and the awarding of the Trophies 2023.
The impressive ceremonial highlight of the AWC VIENNA 2023, the world's largest officially recognized wine competition, took place again on 26 October 2023 with 3,000 invited guests in attendance; receiving them were 100 of the most successful wineries that had participated in the demanding wine tasting challenge.
With 11,376 wines from 1,514 producers from 42 countries, 216 international wine tasters from 14 nations had tasted and judged the best: This year, Trophies were awarded to South Africa, Australia, China, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria. The proud representatives from the winning wineries were handed their awards from prominent agricultural experts and politicians. The official speech was given by Norbert Walter, president of the Vienna Chamber of Agriculture and the Viennese wine growing association.
For the enthusiastic guests, the possibility of tasting so many international wines and having direct personal contact with the producers was inspiring.
The AWC VIENNA 2023 - International Wine Challenge has once again asserted its position as the largest officially recognized wine competition in the world. The uninfluenceable blind tasting system together with the strict tasting guidelines make AWC VIENNA the most challenging of the renowned international wine tasting competitions. AWC VIENNA is also officially approved as a distinguished wine competition by the European Union.
