Women’s Day events: Celebrating all women on 9 August 2023

Flower crown workshop at KWV Cathedral Cellar

Flower Girl is a two-woman team who look forward to presenting a wreath-making workshop at the world-renowned Cathedral Cellar in Paarl.

At this workshop, guests will learn something about flower crowns from Yvonne Anthony, their history and symbolism, and the plant materials we will be using to make them. We enjoy spending time with people who need a little time out from the regular to connect, reset and be inspired – all while making something beautiful to take home with them. Joining in on the floral festivities, and spoiling each lady on the day, is one of our new Brand Partners, NUXE. Be sure not to miss out on a day filled with celebration and spoils.

Afterwards, a delicious lunch will be served by chef Mynhardt Joubert with some Laborie wines for sale.

Plan your perfect winter breakaway at Babylonstoren

Don't let the glimmer of sunshine fool you... It's still winter in the Winelands. Rainy days are aplenty as you can savour the flush of blood oranges from Babylonstoren’s orchards and eagerly anticipate the start of the waterblommetjie harvest for warm winter bredies, and a few other farm favourites.

Babylonstoren Farm Hotel's winter accommodation special

Book a three-night hotel stay until the end of August and stay an extra night with compliments from the Babylonstoren Farm Hotel, recently awarded the prestigious title of Best Resort Hotel in Africa for 2023 by Travel + Leisure readers. The Babylonstoren Farm Hotel also ranks 14th on the Travel + Leisure list of 100 Best Hotels in the World.  There is enough to see and do at this landmark situated in Simondium, Paarl for you to enjoy.

Winter self-care boost

Relish in a much-needed winter wellness boost at Babylonstoren’s hot spa. Guests can nourish body and soul in this beautiful and restorative indoor-outdoor space set among the vineyards and young orchards. Soak in the warm water and steam in the vitality pools alongside a welcoming hearth, or scrub away the winter woes in the traditional Rasul chamber.

New Babel winter menu

After a reviving winter break, executive chef Schalk Vlok and his team at Babel Restaurant are back with a new winter menu. As always, seasonal vegetables and fruits from their abundant garden are the focus of the menu – from sweet-sour blood oranges to the noble knobbles of the garden like celeriac, leeks and brassicas. And what would winter in the Boland be without a bowlful of moreish Cape pondweed (better known in the valley as waterblommetjies)!

Babylonstoren introduces a new Garden Shop, Gelato Room and Coffee Roastery

A new experience awaits visitors at Babylonstoren Farm in the Cape Winelands, where an enchanted Garden Shop, Gelato Room and craft Coffee Roastery have opened. Babylonstoren is dedicated to innovation, nourishment and local produce, and these new additions complement their existing portfolio in the authentic farm style.

The Garden Shop, or Tuinwinkel, is a sun-soaked greenhouse featuring trellised wooden walls washed in reseda green. Bespoke gardening tools, fascinating plants and rare bonsai trees are available for purchase. For the gourmands, two exciting new additions on the farm include a retro gelateria and craft coffee roastery. The roastery sits next to the Farm Shop where a barrel drum roaster gently toasts the new Babylonstoren house blend. The new gelateria (or Roomyskas in Afrikaans) serves delectable scoops of Babylonstoren’s water buffalo gelato served on wafer-thin sugar cones.
