Seven Days of Shiraz & Venison
Seven Days of Shiraz & Venison traditionally centers around 21 August, South Africa’s National Shiraz Day, and the seven days following this date. Shiraz, also known as Syrah, is a dark-skinned grape used to produce medium to full-bodied wines all over the world but thrives in South Africa thanks to the dry, warm summers and chilly, wet winters.
Our Neethlingshof Shiraz grapes grow on the ocean-facing slopes of the estate where the fresh air from False Bay cools the vineyards during the summer days, harvested by hand early April. For further complexity, texture and tone, the wine matures in a combination of French and American oak for 6 months.
The Estate Shiraz is vibrant on the nose with aromas of ripe red apple, black plum and hints of fynbos, lavender and white pepper. The wine is pronounced and fruit forward on the palate with plenty dark fruit character coupled with a touch of cloves from the oak.
To boost your celebration of this cherished cultivar, we are offering 25% off on our Neethlingshof Shiraz.
This offer will only be available until 31 August 2022 from the estate only.
Venison and Shiraz pairing
In addition to the above, we've created dishes which will marry perfectly with our Shiraz.
Winter is not only the season for red wine but also the time where exotic meat varieties such as Springbok, zebra and Kudu deserve to be paired up with Shiraz to create a senses pleasing experience for those who care to indulge.

Wine Town Stellenbosch 2022 has begun
South Africa’s heartland of wine goes on full display this long weekend (4-9 August), when it welcomes families and friends to its annual celebration of the grape, suitably called Wine Town Stellenbosch 2022. Inaugurated last year, Wine Town Stellenbosch features a diverse series of events and experiences intended to offer something for everyone. The format of the festival remains de-centralized. With events hosted around town and on wine farms, Wine Town Stellenbosch gives wine lovers the best opportunity to explore the region known for its heritage and world champion wines.
One of the main attractions of the Wine Town Stellenbosch 2022 will be Stellenbosch Wine Festival, a two-day showcase of local wines to be held in the Stellenbosch Town Hall on the Friday and Saturday (5 and 6 August). The festival is ideal for visitors wanting a snapshot of the thriving Stellenbosch wine scene.
As part of the Oppie Plaas events, taking place on the farms along the wine routes, Neethlingshof is offering live music on Sunday, 7 August, as part of the First Sundays Live Music series. Join us from 12:00 to 15:00 at no extra cost - a relaxed way to experience the beautiful winelands and enjoy your favourite Neethlingshof wine. Simply email us to book your table.
