Summer is in the air and the abundance of new growth and beauty around us is getting us excited for what is to come. It is an absolutely stunning time on the farm with a real sense of positive energy all around - and we can't wait to welcome all of you!

News from the vineyards and cellar
We are entering the most exciting time of the year in terms of nurturing our vineyards. October and November are beautiful months with the vineyards being green and luscious with new growth and the prospect of a harvest of lovely grapes to make only the best wines under the Neethlingshof label.
The vines are almost in full flower, the time when pollination will happen and ultimately bring forth the fruit that we will nurture until harvest. This is a very delicate but also an important time in the cycle of producing grapes. For this reason, we are suckering our vineyards to make sure that all the energy goes into the main shoots which will allow our vines to bare the best fruit possible. We are also doing shoot positioning to ensure that we can utilize the sunshine and manage the growth that will happen in the next few months.
All in all, the conditions have been very favourable and we are looking forward to the crop of 2022!
Meanwhile, in the cellar, we are racking and returning the red wines of 2021. This is a process whereby we take the wines out of the barrels and then transfer them back to barrel again. This is an important process where we can make sure that the wines are in top condition and if needed, make necessary adjustments.
We are also wrapping up the last bottlings of the year to ensure that we have more than enough wine for the festive season ahead!
Our assistant winemaker, Mika Engelbrecht, is currently harvesting in Austria. We cannot wait for her return in December and look forward to her sharing her experiences during her time abroad.
Summer Offerings
With summer knocking on the door, it is the perfect time to come and enjoy our Summer Flash Food & Slow Wine Pairing available at our Wine Tasting Centre. Our winemaker spends months crafting and nurturing superb wines and we match his efforts with bite-sized portions of fast food - with a twist. The pairing includes five bite-sized dishes paired perfectly with five delicious wines.
You will begin the journey with a Salmon roulade paired with our Sauvignon Blanc followed by a vegetable samoosa with Mango Atchar paired with our Gewurztraminer, BBQ Chicken Kebab paired with our Malbec, Mini Beef burger with strawberry jam & dark chocolate shavings paired with our Owl Post Pinotage and then, to end off on a sweet note, the Malva pudding with liquorice coupled with our Caracal Bordeaux Blend.
Other food options, on the Estate, include SALT AT THE WINE GARDEN, serving a great selection of Pizzas, mains and desserts.
