We’re exceptionally proud of seeing how that small, first start of Kaapse Vonkel by our patriarch Frans Malan, has grown to such an extent that some 200 wineries now make Cap Classique in South Africa. This is a wine that is regularly recognised by international wine authorities for the exceptional quality of the category as a whole.

NEW LOOK FOR OUR NECTARS
To commemorate the grand occasion of Kaapse Vonkel’s 50th year, our Kaapse Vonkel Satin Nectar and Satin Nectar Rosé received a stellar new look.
The inspiration hails from Cap Classique’s evolution to a lifestyle wine that fits excellently with the modern wine drinker. It is fresh, fruity, lively, refreshing, elegant, stylish and puts you in a good mood. It is the most versatile wine there is – from breakfast to midnight!
Featuring a beautiful new sleeve, Kaapse Vonkel Satin Nectar has been brightly decked with unmistakable icons of the Cape’s floral kingdom. It represents a fresh, jovial and vibrant approach that exalts the spirit of Africa Rising and its creative and fearless peoples.
Now available on our online shop and retailers nationwide.
A GREAT HARVEST IN A GREAT YEAR
The flavour and general condition of grapes during harvest are indicators of the wine it will produce. A positive viticultural assessment on this year’s haul was therefore wholeheartedly welcomed by the winemaking team.
“Everything just came together,” were the words of Charl Schoeman, winemaker responsible for Kaapse Vonkel and Simonsig white wines.
Hallmarks of the vintage were good winter rain and favourable climatic conditions. It also helped that the team was energised and determined to place this 50th anniversary wine among the best.
The grapes are very healthy and with a marginally smaller harvest than the previous year, flavours and concentration will be good.
