Crowning the success of the Paarl producer was The Dry Land Collection Longevity Natural Sweet Chenin Blanc 2017 that obtained Platinum status at the largest drinks competition on the African continent. This following its prior performance at the 25th Grand International Wine Award, Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2019 where it achieved a Grand Gold medal. Produced from unirrigated dry land vineyards, The Dry Land Collection Longevity Natural Sweet Chenin Blanc is made from smaller bushvine grapes that provide ample fruit and structure, thus showcasing the uniqueness of the wines grown in this testing terroir and its exceptional, long-lasting quality.
Three double gold medals were awarded to The Dry Land Collection Joseph Legacy 2015 (Red Blend), The Dry Land Collection Resolve Pinotage 2017 and Rex Equus 2016 (Cape Blend). Five gold medals were bestowed upon The Dry Land Collection Rossouw’s Heritage 2017, The Dry Land Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2018, The Dry Land Tenacious Shiraz 2015, The Vineyard Collection Cinsault 2018 and The Vineyard Collection Malbec 2018. Additionally, four silver medals were presented to Perdeberg for the Sparkling Rosé 2019, SSR White 2019, SSR Rosé and Endura Single Vineyard Chenin Blanc 2017.
This year saw a total of over 2 000 wines entered for the competition that were judged by a panel of 24 international and six South African wine and spirits experts, representing 22 countries.
