Hidden Valley Wines
We are proud to announce the launch of our limited, Hidden Valley Blanc Fumé!
Says Annalie: “We have been working hard in the vineyard to improve the quality of our Sauvignon blanc. I was very pleased with the outcome and this gave me ample opportunity to experiment and play in the cellar. Overnight skin contact, lees stirring and fermenting one barrel, was part of the fun. I used a 2nd fill, un-toasted, 225L French oak barrel. The juice fermented in the barrel and then aged on the lees for a further four months, before being blended with an un-oaked portion. The end result is a 50% oaked (2nd fill) Blanc Fumé. All part of Hidden Valley Wines’ quest to create a truly unique experience for our visitors and loyal members”.
Guava and passion fruit lead the nose of this tropical Sauvignon blanc with just a hint of fynbos. The palate is soft and rounded with subtle oaky notes, leading to a long-lingering finish of Granny Smith apple, green figs and a touch of vanilla.
With only 564 bottles produced (individually numbered by hand by Annalie), this very limited special release is offered for sale at R165 per bottle.
The Hidden Valley Blanc Fumé 2019 will officially be released in the Wine Tasting Centre on Saturday, 7 September and we invite you to stop by for a tasting of this new exciting edition to the Hidden Valley Wines range!
