Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show
It’s the 18th year that the Old Mutual’s Trophy Wine Show, the nation’s highly celebrated wine event, has selected ‘the best of the best’. It’s time for wine lovers to taste the wines that have set judges’ palates buzzing.

This evening, people who are serious about their wines should be heading to the Sandton Convention Centre where the Bill Gallagher Room will be offering the exceptional experience to get a taste of the silver, gold or trophy medal winners - the wines that excelled at the Old Mutual Wine Trophy competition.

Wines available for tasting will include the Best Red, Best White, Discovery of the Show (Best Value) and the International Judges’ Trophy award. All wines are available to order on the night at the Makro pop-up store at show prices. Light meals and refreshments will also be on sale. It will be a rare opportunity for wine lovers to sample, and buy, the wines selected through ‘blind’ tastings by a panel of international and local judges chaired by South Africa’s wine authority Michael Fridjhon.

This year's illustrious international judges were Kirk Bauer (Germany), Simon Field MW (UK) and Benjamin Roffet (France). The South African panel comprised Narina Cloete, Christian Eedes, Patson Mathonsi, Alexandra McFarlane, JD Pretorius and François Rautenbach.

Some of the major award winners announced at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show Awards luncheon held on the 4th of June in Cape Town who will be showcasing their produce will be:

Mulderbosch Single Vineyard Chenin Blanc Block A 2017: Best White Wine Overall

Kruger Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2017: Best Red Wine Overall

The countrywide roadshow will continue with the Cape Town Public Tasting happening on Thursday, 20 June, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
