A good wine in South Africa doesn't have to cost a pretty penny. Well, perhaps in some places it does. Here's what the good stuff costs across the country.

There’s nothing quite like a vintage South African brand of plonk, is there? Whether it’s red or white, we always get it right. Even our sparkling brands are world-beaters, and it’s a real source of national pride. However, although we are united by our achievements, we’re divided by price.

Wine doesn’t grow on trees, you know. Only vines. That means that forking out for a bottle of the good stuff can cost a pretty penny. But, depending on where you are in the country, you can get a better deal based purely on location.

Data released by StatsSA just after National Wine Day on Saturday has painted the complete picture for Mzansi’s wine consumers. You probably have an idea who’s going to come out as the most expensive, but for those of you still in the lurch, this is what you need to know:
