For some, wine tasting is not just a hobby, it is a sport! Can it be more geeky than a Star Wars convention?

Every year, the best South African wine tasters meet to compete against each other, and the top 4 will make it to Team SA, flying to France in October with jean Vincent Ridon to participate in the World Championship. The KwaZulu-Natal champion was recently crowned with the winner being Craig Agulhas.

This Saturday Cape Town is the scene of the Western Cape championship.

Join us and put your taste buds to the test for the Western Cape selection on Saturday 1st of June at the Taj Hotel in Cape Town.

The goal: Identify wines in anonymous decanters

The clue: You can taste the wines sighted before the blind test beforehand - so your palate memory is key.

The place: Taj Hotel Cape Town - 1st of June - Between 10am and 5pm. Come early to avoid the rush and give yourself enough time.

The reward: Fly to France in October.

Team South Africa has been competing every year since 2013. Last year the team ranked 10th out of 26 countries. See all the pics from the 2018 finals HERE. This year they aim at the podium.
