Mont Rochelle Mountain Vineyards
There’s nothing quite like the tranquil beauty of the Cape Winelands in the winter, with crisp air, stunning mountain backdrops, the golden leaves in the vineyards and roaring fireplaces.

As the temperature begins to cool down from May through to August (max. 18ºC / 64ºF), throw on a jumper and discover all of the fantastic experiences that await you at Mont Rochelle and Franschhoek this season.

Our General Manager, James Basson, shares his must-do’s for Winter in the Winelands:

1. Jaw-dropping scenery
The autumnal vineyards are ridiculously pretty at the moment. With our estate being 39 hectares (about 100 acres) you don’t need to venture too far to get that Insta-worthy snap of the stunning views of the surrounding Franschhoek Valley and Klein Dassenberg Mountain Range.

2. Golden hour
There’s nothing quite like watching the sunset from our Miko restaurant and terrace as you sip on one of our signature cocktails or a glass of our wine. To start your evening in style we’ve created a Sundowners offer with 2 for 1 on drinks from our bar menu, every day between 17h00 - 19h00.

3. Wellbeing
Caring for your skin in winter is key. With two dedicated treatment rooms and a range of our treatments using eco-friendly Africology products, the Mont Rochelle spa is all about helping you feel relaxed and revitalised. We’ve got a spa and lunch offer combining a massage followed by a 2-course lunch in Miko restaurant, oh and we’ll also treat you to a glass of bubbles on us! It’s available for non-residents too.

4. Meet our Winemaker
We recently launched our Winemakers Dinner which is the ultimate evening for food and wine lovers! It takes place on the last Thursday of every month and is the perfect opportunity to talk with our resident winemaker, Dustin Osborne, who is truly passionate about winemaking (and drinking) whilst enjoying a delicious 5-course menu. He’s paired each dish with some of the best selections of wines, as well as our own Mont Rochelle wines - including our Miko Red 2010 which recently won the Gold Award in the London Wine competition and was the only South African wine to receive a gold award!

I hope to see you at Mont Rochelle sometime this Winter!
