Avontuur Estate
May is a beautiful month on the farm as the first rains have started and much of the tourism rush is over, giving us time to reflect on the past season and start planning for the rest of the year

Cabernet Franc Carnival - 18 May
Avontuur Estate is proud to host the fifth Cab Franc Carnival on Saturday, 18 May from 11h00-16h00, where twenty one of South Africa’s top producers of this niche varietal will be showcasing their wines for tasting and for sale. Previous visitors know the day is a relaxing one with seating overlooking the view, great food from our Restaurant or the Food Trucks and obviously the incredible wines on offer. Visit our website for more info.

Tasting Room Special
We’re celebrating the varietal too with a special offer of a two-pack of our award-winning Cabernet Franc 2014 for only R300 for the month of May. (Usual price: R360). Pop in to taste and buy!

Wade Bales Wine and Whiskey Affair
For the first time we’ve signed up to join in these upmarket events and show some of our top wines in Cape Town (9 & 10/5), Johannesburg (30 & 31/5) and Durban (13 & 14/6). We hope to see you there!

Winemaker's Tutored Tastings Start!
It’s time for the first of our popular tutored tastings on Saturday, 25/5, presented in his unique style, by winemaker Jan van Rooyen. The first one will trace the journey of Sauvignon Blanc through various vintages and styles and features a new light meal option i.e a shared meat/cheese platter – all for only R150 per person.

With limited seats available, regulars know to book asap by contacting Ella at winery@avontuurestate.co.za. Watch this space for future dates and themes.

Mother's Day
On Sunday, 12 May we love treating the most important lady in our lives and in our tasting room we’re offering the first 30 moms to pop in, a free tasting and a sweet treat – just to show our appreciation.

Pippa and her team arrived back home tired but satisfied late last week, after a difficult but ultimately successful Yearling Sale. “Although it was a hard one, we were thrilled to receive the support of many of our loyal buyers and some new ones during the auction. All our horses were sold and we look forward to seeing them perform well. I wish all the buyers much happiness with their new purchases and can’t wait to see the results on tracks around the world,” she said.

Winter Opening Times in Place
With the weather turning now, the restaurant will be open daily for breakfast and lunch and for dinner only on Wednesday and Friday evenings. Check out the blackboard for some new warming winter dishes and make sure you head for the cosy seats next to the fireplace when you book!

Breakfast Club Wednesday, 15 May
If you’re a social media novice this month’s extra Breakfast Workshop is for you! “Social Media 101” will help you understand how to optimise this incredible marketing tool. The cost is R220 per person which includes the talk and breakfast.
