The annual Vaal River Meander Wine Route, starts off with the official one day launch on Saturday the 22nd of June 2019 with The Vaal River Wine Expo hosted at Stonehaven on Vaal and Riverside Sun Hotel located on the Vaal River in Gauteng.
The day starts at 12h00-midday and is filled with Wine Tasting, live entertainment, interesting stalls, lots of delectable well-priced food options to indulge in, wine bars, relaxed outdoor seating as well as luxury river cruises.
The R200 entrance ticket gives you access to a choice of over 200 wines to taste from over 50 different South Africa Wine Estates, a complimentary 30 minute Wine Tasting Cruise on the Vaal River as well as a branded wine tasting glass to keep. The luxury river cruisers depart every 15-minutes from 12h00 to 17h00 from the various piers on the river bank each offering onboard wine tastings.
The Vaal River Wine Expo has a limited number of tickets available – Entrance tickets are available from Stonehaven on Vaal and Computicket.
After the official launch on the 22rd of June, the first day of the 6-week 2019 Vaal River Meander Wine Route starts on Sunday the 23rd of June 2019 and runs every weekend on Saturday and Sunday until Sunday the 4th August 2019.
The Vaal River Meander Wine Route is a great treat to beat the winter blues with a host of unique Venues to visit on or around the Vaal River area, each offering wine tastings of at least 8 wines with some venues offering up to 16 wines to taste. It is a relaxed and pleasant, well-priced outing where anyone can learn to appreciate the wonderful wines South Africa boasts - all in a welcoming and relaxed environment. Perfect for wine connoisseurs, but also for new visitors who are not confident regarding wines.
You will pay for Wine Tasting at each Venue you visit, a different Wine Farm with their range of wines can be found at every Venue. Wine Tasting Costs are:
R30 for 8 wines
R40 for 12 wines
R50 for 16 wines
Opening times for the wine tastings are 12h00-midday to 18h00.
Most of the venues will be selling wines at cost plus 10%, so you can also take advantage of the opportunity to get wines you really enjoy at very good prices.
