Asara Wine Estate and Hotel
In this month’s news from Asara: The Estate Manager’s New Year message, Harvest 2019 kicks off, mise en place now open for lunch, our PureGin festival in December was PureMagic, otters on the farm show our amazing bio-diversity, and much more.

Asara Estate Manager Pete Gottgens says that he expects 2019 to be a challenging year for both the hotel and winery. “Our hotel bookings are looking reasonable for the first part of the year,” he says, “and it’s encouraging that the water crisis is now behind us, but there’s no doubt that business conditions are tough, especially with our major international markets, which impacts wine exports especially... my message to the team, whether at the hotel or winery, for the year ahead is that it’s even more important in a challenging environment for us to work together, and to provide consistently excellent service.”

All is on track for an excellent Harvest 2019, which will start about two weeks later than in recent years due to more rain and cooler evenings throughout November and December. As the old wine industry saying goes, “great wines are made in the vineyard”, and at harvest time we see the benefits of Asara’s extraordinary terroir in the quality of the grapes brought in to the cellar.

Asara’s seasonal restaurant, mise en place, is now open for lunch from 12h00 on Wednesdays to Saturdays, and for dinner on Tuesday to Saturday evenings from 18h00. A major feature of the M&P experience is the spectacular setting for diners outside on the terrace (weather permitting).

PLUS: Our Vineyard Collection Pinotage Rosé 2018, crisp, fresh and elegant, was recognised as one of the country's top three Pinotage Rosés in the Perold / Absa Pinotage Rosé Competition. It’s on special offer at our tasting room for the month of love - get six bottles for the price of five!
