Paserene
Are you ready for an entertaining Saturday in the Franschhoek Wine Valley for the whole family? Unwind in style at the annual Paserene Open Day, hosted at the Paserene tasting lounge, the newest addition to the Franschhoek Wine Route on the 17th November.

Festival goers can expect live music from the acoustic band, Mack and Miller, Paserene and Shiner wines for tasting and sale throughout the day, and fun children’s activities to keep the little ones entertained. Whether you wish to relax on the green lawns or take a tractor ride through the vineyards, there will be something for everybody. Special purchase offers and sought-after older vintages of Paserene wines will be on sale. A delicious food stand will be selling items hot off the coals and will cater for both children and adults.

Children will be entertained with traditional South African ‘farm games’ such as apple bobbing, egg and spoon races, sack jumping and horse-shoe toss, and of course tractor rides through the vineyards every half an hour. Children under 18 enter free of charge.

Vertical tastings of the award-winning Paserene wines with Martin Smith, winemaker and co-owner, will be offered at 13h00 and 15h00 on the day. Tasters can expect Paserene wines from the very first vintage, as well as the 5 star Platter Wine Guide Paserene Chardonnay 2015, and various vintages of both Paserene Marathon and Paserene Union. The tasting is limited to 12 people per session, so pre-purchasing is recommended.

Paserene Open Day takes place from 12h00 till 17h00. Tickets cost R200 per person and include wine tastings, a glass of Shiner red or white wine, live music, tractor tours, children’s entertainment and a Paserene wine glass to take home. Paserene is a small family operated winery owned by Martin Smith and Ndabe Mareda with the sole purpose of producing highest-end luxury wines. Great care was given to ensure that the wines produced, and artwork on the labels, are truly authentic to ensure its “sense of place and people” and a lasting legacy for many years to come. The name Paserene comes from the Latin word Passeriformes, the order of "traveling and free" birds containing swifts and swallows.
