Plaisir de Merle
Embrace the arrival of spring and make Plaisir de Merle your first stop during the Franschhoek Uncorked Festival on 15 and 16 September.

Stretch out on the lush lawns under ancient oak trees with live music and breathtaking views of the Simonsberg Mountain and surrounding vineyards.

Johnny Haman and Marius Uys from Slippery Spoon Kitchen will dazzle your taste buds with a selection of creative foods. Choose culinary masterpieces from the Pizetta Bianco and Raw Salmon Bars with a helping of Pimp Your French Fries.

Explore Plaisir de Merle’s range of beautifully balanced and multi-layered wines in the tasting room and take advantage of a 10% discount on all wines purchased on the day.  A Bedouin tent will provide shelter should the weather turn.

The estate’s dates back to 1693 and the wines produced here are inspired by the harmony of a rich history, the fertile soil and lush vineyards.  Plaisir de Merle is one of the Cape’s largest and oldest wine farms and about half of the estate is under vineyards whilst the rest is largely left untouched, preserving the indigenous biomes of plant and animal life. The vineyards are located between 180m and 500m above sea level where the high east-facing slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain shade the vines from the warm, late afternoon sun, slowing down the ripening for concentrated aromas and complex structure.

The yearly Franschhoek Uncorked offers visitors fresh country air and breathtaking scenery as they travel from farm to farm. To avoid the queues, pre-book an Uncorked Weekend Pass through Webtickets. A ticket costs R150 per person and allows access to all of the participating wine farms as well as a complimentary tasting glass and wine tastings.  For more information, visit www.franschhoekuncorked.co.za
