This highly awarded Cap Classique is produced with maturation in mind but delivers powerful and rich characteristics if enjoyed now.Villiera’s hallmark Cap Classique - Tradition Brut NV scored 92 points in this year’s report slightly up on the 2017 rating. After more than 30 years of producing Villiera Tradition Brut this “Méthode Cap Classique” continues to impress.Villiera Traditional Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2017 was rated 90 points, a repeat on the performance of the 2016 vintage. Producing this wine from 2 trellised vineyards and 1 old bush vine block with barrel aging ensures it delivers distinctive flavours with good maturation potential.The fourth wine to achieve a score of 91 is the Villiera Bush Vine Blanc Fumé 2017. This wine is an exciting departure from what Villiera have usually done with their oaked Sauvignon Blanc and embraces new trends in winemaking to ensure greater versatility with food.Tim Atkin is an award-winning British wine-writer and Master of Wine.
