A handful of South Africa’s top sommeliers are running out of time to prepare for the strenuous semi- and final rounds.

The semi-finals will see 15 sommeliers from all over South Africa test their metal in an examination comprising written theory, blind tasting and a practical formal wine service.

From this accomplished list our judges Hans Astrom, Higgo Jacobs, Neil Grant and William Wouters (President, Belgium Sommelier Association and ASI Regional Chairman) will select three exceptional competitors to take part in the nail-biting final round comprising a publicly showcased simulated restaurant setting at the stylish new Tsogo Sun Sun Square Hotel in Cape Town's CBD on the 6th of September 2018.

The winner of the competition gains the coveted 2-year title as "Best Sommelier South Africa 2018" and goes on to represent South Africa in the ASI Sommelier Championships to be held in Belgium in 2019.
