Join board member Tinashe for "Sommelier Bottlings", a tasting were he will showcase wines that have either been made, blended or bottled by past & present Sommeliers. Its set to open discussions on what and why this phenomenon is becoming a greater occurrence.

Cape Wine Chenin Blanc Party
This year The Chenin Blanc Association will be hosting their second annual Chenin Blanc Party for WOSA and other International guests at The Grand Café and Beach on Tuesday 11th of September 2018. (11h00 - 15h00) as part of the Cape Wine program.

With ocean view decks and beach area, this is the perfect spot for the guests to experience the lure of South African Chenin blanc! The party will celebrate this heritage grape and the diversity of South African Chenin blanc.

SASA Winter Olympics
In collaboration with the association and to raise awareness of the lighter side of the profession in a fun and interactive way, SASA will host our first ever SASA Olympics poising teams of local sommeliers / media / producers / international personalities / and WOSA representatives against each other in Chenin related wine games.

Winning team receives bragging rights and wonderful Chenin and other prizes. Join International Cape Wine guests, local media, local trade as well as Standard Bank management and come support your favorite team!

SASA would like to congratulate the latest winners in the wine steward category of the Distell Inter Hotel Challenge 2018, now in its 6th year. They are:

WINE STEWARD OF THE YEAR: Samantha Swartz (The 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa)
BEST WINE STEWARD 1st RUNNER UP: Alvezo Abrahams (Cape Grace)
BEST WINE STEWARD 2nd RUNNER UP: Axolile Pupuma (Marriott Crystal Towers)
‘MOST PROMISING’ WINE STEWARD: Victor Mofokeng (De Hoek Country Hotel)
‘MOST UP & COMING’ WINE STEWARD: (‘THE WONGA PRIZE’): Fabrice Ntundu (Ellerman House)

These young aspiring sommeliers have all been awarded bursaries (very generously sponsored by Distell) to attend the SASA Level 1 Junior Sommelier course and exam, while the winner, Samantha Swartz will also enter the Level 2 SASA Sommelier program.
