With the Norval Foundation Art Gallery having opened up next door; we thought we would highlight a sculptor whose artwork pieces can be found on our estate and have also been chosen by the curators of the Norval Foundation to display in their gallery.

Edoardo Villa, originally of Italian descent, was a notable South African sculptor who worked primarily in steel and bronze. Villa was a prisoner of World War ll, captured by the English and kept in Egypt. He was then shipped to South Africa where he spent the next four years at the Zonderwater prisoner of war camp. After his release, Villa remained in South Africa. Graham Beck became a good friend of Villa and an avid follower and admirer of his work. The Graham Beck art collection has a substantial number of Villa artworks which are placed on Steenberg Estate and the Graham Beck estate in Robertson. Take a walk around the gardens at Steenberg Hotel & Spa and you will view a total of 7 sculptures.

Event: Food & Wine Pairing Educational with Katinka van Niekerk
Katinka van Niekerk is a stalwart ambassador for the art of food and wine pairing, and with years of experience and knowledge, she is the authority on the matter. We will be offering an opportunity for you to learn from the best. Katinka will host an informative evening where she will explain the principles of food and wine pairing in an interactive environment. The first session will focus on our 5 taste sensations. Pair these taste sensations with wine to reveal what works well and what clashes on your palate. The second session will focus on more complex dishes. With a plate of delicious bites from the kitchen, and using your new-found knowledge, taste and discuss to find your best food and wine match.
