Klawer Wine Cellars
Klawer Wine Cellars' Muscat d’Alexandrie 2016, a premium dessert wine, won a double gold medal at the 2017 Michelangelo Awards!

The Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards is unique in South-Africa and the judges are hand-picked wine experts, from around the globe. Their main goal is to support local winemakers who are targeting the international markets. The wine is judged blind by five judges. They use the 100-point international OIV system.

The competition annually receives around 1700 and 1800 wine, brandy, and liqueur entries and we are proud to announce that Klawer Wine Cellars' premium dessert wine (Muscat d’Alexandrie) 2016 vintage, received a double gold medal! This spectacular wine is made from bush vines which grow on the Skurfkop farm near Graafwater.

One of our other dessert wines we entered was the African Ruby Rooibos infused Vermouth. This is a Red muscadel, infused with Rooibos tea and buchu. This wine is unique in taste, with a mixture of sweet Muscat flavors, combined with the bitter taste of buchu and the taste of rooibos. This 2015 Vermouth got a silver.

We are so proud of our wines and we strive to produce better wines each year. It can only get better!
