Jan’s focus on Boschendal is to integrate agriculture into beautiful and sustainable landscaping and he and his team have continued to restore and upgrade the original garden over the years.
The programme includes a tour with Jan and rose enthusiast, Cathy Esterman where you can find out more about the Heritage Roses and modern varieties growing within the garden, as well as how this important part of Boschendal’s history is cared for.
Once you have viewed the roses, guests will enjoy a talk by Cathy Esterman and High Tea prepared by Executive Chef Christiaan Campbell in the picturesque gardens.
Roses will be on sale and visitors will be able to place orders for specific varieties to be propagated in future.
The hands on workshop is hosted by Megan McCarthy who oversees the beautiful 2 hectare Werf Food Garden on the farm. Megan will share her practical experience in organic food production as well as permaculture in an urban environment and cover topics including vegetation propagation, seed saving, soil amendment & probiotic growing and creating soil recipes with indigenous and beneficial micro organisms.
The cost of the workshop includes a seedling starter kit, companion plants, beneficial microbes, lots of fun and laughter, and a light lunch with juice & coffee. Vegetarian options are available.
