Producers from all over the country were showing off their wines, with Calitzdorp, Franschhoek, Orange River, Robertson, Darling, Stellenbosch and Paarl wineries present.
The Cape Wine Academy theatres, attendance of which was included in the ticket price, did an excellent job of informing a keen audience about Pinotages, Sweet Wines and Value-for-money Wines in their themed tastings. La Couronne, Overhex Wines, Diemersfontein and Stellenbosch Hills presented wine and food pairings which were hugely popular.
The Pebbles Project which was the official charity organisation benefitting from the event, did a roaring trade in lottery tickets and were complimented on their “local street food” eats which sold like hot cakes.
“We loved hosting the wine festival again this year, and enjoyed the well-behaved crowd who really loved interacting with the wineries in our Mall. We hope to present the event in 2017 as well,” says Capegate Marketing Manager Amanda McCarthy.
Participating wineries were: Alexanderfontein/Ormonde, Arendskloof/Eagle’s Cliff, Beyerskloof Wines, Biocape Wines, Bonnievale Cellar, Diemersfontein Wines, Dieu Donnè Vineyards, Deux Frères Wines, Du Toitskloof Wines, Edgebaston, Eerstehoop Wines, Fledge & Co, Groenland, Imbuko Wines, La Couronne Wine Estate, MWS, Orange River Cellars, Overhex Wines International, Perdeberg Winery, Peter Bayly Wines, Stellenbosch Hills, Villiera Wines, Villiersdorp Cellar and Yonder Hill Wines.
