Spice Route Winery has released its much-anticipated Spice Route Malabar 2012, the winery’s 7th Malabar release since 2002. Like its fellow Spice Route wines, Spice Route Malabar 2012 exemplifies the new age of the Swartland, and the farm, Klein Amoskuil, where the wine is grown and produced.

Each parcel of fruit that went into this release had to be carefully hand-selected as 2012 had a very low yield - a mere 2.6 tons of grapes per hectare. This makes Spice Route Malabar 2012, which has been four years in the making, a desirably uncommon wine.

With a well-integrated palate, opulent tannin structure and balanced mouth feel, Spice Route Malabar 2012 is an elegant wine, which has the potential to age another decade. “A wine that truly reflects the excellence of Swartland,” describes Head Winemaker, Charl Du Plessis.

Layered and perfumed aromas of rich blackberry, plum, cacao and violets captivate the senses. Spice Route Malabar 2012 can be enjoyed with slow roasted lamb, green beans and roast potatoes.

Spice Route Malabar 2012 is now available for tasting and sales at the Spice Route Tasting Room, which is based at Spice Route Destination in Paarl.
