Bouchard Finlayson
The two-day event will kick off the morning of Friday 29 January at Bona Dea Private Estate, with a Tutored Tasting that will include the most comprehensive selection of 2014 Pinot Noirs from the three appellations of the area: Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. It will be followed by a special Gala dinner, which will see the culinary skills of three local chefs come to life. Warwick Taylor from Creation will join forces with Stephen Mandes and Yusuf Sujee from the Restaurant at La Vierge to create a mouth-watering menu to perfectly complement a selection of the Hemel-en-Aarde’s top Pinot Noirs.
The Tutored Tasting and Gala Dinner keynote address will this year be presented by South African born Master of Wine, Greg Sherwood, who is currently working at Handford Wines in the UK. He is only the fourth South African ever to pass the distinguished Master of Wine examinations.
The programme continues with a series of individual events on the various wine farms. South African ‘Pinot Pioneer’ Peter Finlayson will give an insight into his experience with the elusive grape during a ‘Pinot un-puzzled’ event at Bouchard Finlayson at 12:30 on Saturday 30 January. Guests will be able to enjoy a select tasting of national and international Pinot Noirs, whilst enjoying an interactive quiz to challenge the mind and tantalise the palate. The event will end with a delicious light lunch in the Bouchard Finlayson Homestead cellar.
