Winterhalter Takes Up The Challenge

Winterhalter South Africa, is challenging all up and coming wine waiters, wine stewards, junior sommeliers and hotel / hospitality students to enter the Winterhalter Wine Challenge. Run in conjunction with the prestigious South African Wine Tasting Championships (SAWTC), this challenge is sure to become a benchmark in terms of getting aspiring young people to learn more about wine.
WINTERHALTER is creating an opportunity for 20 young professionals, aged between 18 and 30 to compete against each other at the Cape Town Provincial South African Wine Tasting Championship. This prestigious event is taking place on the 27th of June 2015 at the Hilton Hotel, City Centre.

Whether you are a junior sommelier, wine service student or wine steward you will compete for the colours of your respective restaurants, or hotel schools. The most talented Winterhalter Wine Challenge tasting participant at the SAWTC blind tasting will win prizes for both themselves and their employer’s business or their educational institution.

The Challenger with the highest score at the SAWTC will win the following package:
- One year membership with SASA (South African Sommelier Association)
- A selection of wines worth R3000 for the challenger’s private collection
- A one year corporate membership for the restaurant or hotel school that endorsed the challenger
- A stock of wine that can be listed on the restaurant wine list, worth R3000 trade price.
