Breedekloof Wine & Tourism
Established in 2003 finalists had to submit no
more than five wines, which were judged in eight categories by a panel of
esteemed judges from the industry. Dr
Winnie Bowman (CWM), chaired the panel and was joined by Duimpie Bayly (CWM), journalist Fiona McDonald, Raymond Noppé (CWM) and Kristina Beuthner (Head of the Cape Wine
Academy) as fellow judges.
In order to qualify for an entry you need to be a
winemaker working in the Breedekloof or Worcester ‘Wine of Origin’ area, and
your cellar needs to be affiliated with one or both of the wine routes in the area
(i.e. either Breedekloof Wine & Tourism and/or Worcester Wine & Olive
Route).
The cellars who, together with Deetlefs Estate,
qualified as finalists were:
=
Alvi’s Drift Private
Cellar
=
Botha Cellar
=
Goudini Cellar
=
Nuy Cellar
“By
far the proudest moment of my winemaking career. This award makes all the hard
work worthwhile. It also inspires winemakers to produce wines that can compete
with the best in the world, “ comments Ferdi on his recent win.
