Pinotage Youth Development Academy
The students enjoyed a lively Q&A session with her and her husband Nick, and were inspired by her extensive experience and easy manner. Her passion for wine and the environment is evident, as is her ability to engage with people.
She is a guest speaker at the Nedbank VinPro Information Day to be held
on 22 January 2015 at CTICC and has donated her speaker’s fee to PYDA to
support the South African wine industry.
We see this as recognition of
our contribution to launching a new generation of talented employees into the
SA wine industry. The
12 month PYDA programme offers technical training combined with practical
experience through which students learn everything from viticulture and
winemaking to sales, marketing and tourism. The programme focuses on personal
development, and gives students the confidence, knowledge and ability to ease
the transition into the world of work. Graduates have an excellent
understanding of the A-Z of wine from a technical point of view, strongly
embedded through their practical experience. We believe the students and graduates will bring their skills and
qualities to benefit the sector, and will play an important role in achieving
the desired transformation of the industry.
During March 2015 we will start recruiting for our 3rd
academic year which will run from June 2015 until May 2016.
