Working on Fire’s team is permanently based on Lourensford but service the whole Helderberg region in the case of a fire. A team of highly enthusiastic, passionate, singing people.
Thanduxolo Phumagene (right on photo of the guys) and Nikelo Mpana (left on photo of the guys) are body builders from the WoF Helderberg team, they both live in Strand in Greenfield and Nomzamo respectively. They both joined Working on Fire this year in September and have recently come back from training (induction and advanced fire fighting). They are both very strong and train a lot by lifting heavy weights to build their muscles.

Thanduxolo Phumagene started body building in 2009, trained by Bulelani Mkhontwana, and had his first competition in April 2009. Later that year he competed in another body building competition in Bellville for which he he came in first place in four different categories. In September 2009 he competed again in Polokwane, Limpopo for which he also came in first place.

In 2011 Thanduxolo Phumagene progressed to training and started training two other body builders, including Nikelo Mpana.

This year both Thanduxolo Phumagene and Nikelo Mpana qualified to compete in September for the Western Province Body Building Championships at Bellville. Thanduxolo Phumagene came in first place and has won the chance to compete internationally (representing South Africa) in Paris, France on the 15th of November 2013.

The fitness requirements for Working on Fire for gentlemen includes 40 push-ups in one minute, Thanduxolocan do 150.

Thanduxolo Phumagene leaves on the 13th of November 2013 and we wish him all the best, bring home the gold!
