Stellenbosch Wine Routes
Top Stellenbosch entertainment heads to Jozi

The 2013 Stellenbosch at Summer Place showcase is all about pairing the very best wines, food, music, art and fashion the country’s premier wine route has to offer. The ever popular Stellenbosch band, Zamar, is set to engage a ritzy Jozi crowd with nothing short of a world-class performance on Wednesday, 30 October.

Adding rhythm divine to this opulent celebration of the Stellenbosch lifestyle in the City of Gold, Zamar, a five piece act, will wow guests with intimate and soulful solo and duet sessions that harmoniously match and elevate the various wine varietals at this year’s showcase. This exclusive evening in Hyde Park will culminate with a highly entertaining group performance by this vibrant band.

“This year we are taking the concept of pairing to a whole new level in an effort to create an unsurpassed sensory journey that will surprise and delight our guests. Not only will we match wines from prominent Stellenbosch estates with signature dishes by the very best chefs our region has to offer, but we will also cleverly pair the wines to different music moods and acts, edgy fashion and rare art pieces. This evening is a feast for all the senses,” shares Annareth Bolton, CEO of the Stellenbosch Wine Routes.

Zamar, which means to ‘celebrate with the plucking of strings’ consists of a violinist, accordionist, bassist, guitarist and percussionist and this fine ensemble is renowned for its fresh, cosmopolitan sounds, energetic style and ability to strike a captivating chord with its audience. Guests of Stellenbosch at Summer Place can mingle to the rich melody of good taste while Zamar will take their senses on a world voyage with an impressive repertoire that ranges from South American tangos, Hungarian rhapsodies and Irish folk music to gypsy and jazz.

Sharing the spotlight with these sexy five musicians, will be 35 of Stellenbosch’s finest winemakers and estate owners, who will grace Summer Place with their most precious vintages. They include Bartinney, Kanonkop, De Toren, Oldenburg, Longridge and Waterford.

This year’s chef line-up includes five of the finest maestros from the Stellenbosch Winelands, all set to pair their gourmet creations with the stellar wines for an unrivalled culinary lifestyle experience. They are Michael Broughton of Terroir, Bertus Basson of Overture, George Jardine of Jordan Restaurant; Christiaan Campbell of Delaire Graff Estate, and Grégory Czarnecki of Waterkloof Restaurant.

As well as stimulating the taste buds and offering a variety of artistic flavours and textures to savour throughout the evening, Stellenbosch at Summer Place 2013 will be a highly visual feast. Those looking to understand the investment value of their wine or art collection will find benefit in rubbing shoulders with wine and art gurus at the event.
