Solms-Delta Wine Estate
Heritage Day is on Tuesday 24th September so take some time out and head to the Cape Winelands to Solms-Delta, where the celebrations start on Saturday 21 September.
Arrive to a welcome drink of Perry, a delicious sparkling pear beverage; hop on a tractor and take a Dik Delta tour of the Culinary Gardens and learn about the edible side of heritage.

The lives of the Cape’s first settlers, the Khoi, revolved around some 400 plant species that nourished them and cured their ailments. Most plants are now under threat of extinction and many have been sourced, identified and planted in the fynbos culinary gardens, and are used in Fyndraai Restaurant’s kitchen. Dik Delta tours will run daily from 10h00 -10h45 and 14h00-14h45. Cost: tour with wine tasting – R40.00 p/p. Tour without wine tasting – R35.00p/p. Booking is essential.

Enjoy a Heritage Menu menu special at Fyndraai and taste the wonderful creations of chef Shaun Schoeman, made with freshly picked edible indigenous flora. You will be welcomed with a glass of Perry, then try Vegetarian Khoe-khoen veld vegetables and goats cheese bake with wild mustard sauce, or venison pie with begrafnisrys , quince jelly and cooked dried peaches. Round off the feast with Small Dutch pancakes served with Solms-Delta Gemoedsrus port-style sauce and berry custard. Cost: Heritage special price of R165.00 p/p or enjoy a wine pairing with your meal, for R185.00p/p. Booking is essential.
