Mooiplaas Estate
Mooiplaas Wine Estate was awarded a Gold medal for their Rosalind Bordeaux blend, that forms part of their premium range called The Mercia Collection. The Stellenbosch based boutique winery is owned and managed by the Roos family.
The International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) is regarded as one of the toughest annual competitions and saw a record number of entries in 2013 but only a small number of wines won medals.

South African wines were judged in Paarl with most of the gold medal-winning wines from the top end of producers' ranges. The two stage judging process takes place over a six-month period, consisting of blind tastings and detailed technical analysis. Entries are judged by panels drawn from 250 specialists from around the world.

Rosalind, meaning beautiful rose, is a Bordeaux blend comprised of Cabernet Franc (44%), Cabernet Sauvignon (44%) and Merlot (12%). A well crafted wine showing elegance and balance that can be matured for 12-20 years.

Mooiplaas also won a Silver medal for their Pinotage 2012 vintage.
