Drostdy-Hof
Tulbagh will be the scene of some of the most moving expressions of madness when the beautiful country town hosts Waansin (Madness), a selection of mad scenes from famous operas, by Biblioteek Music Productions.
The musical evening forms part of this year’s Tulbagh Arts Festival that runs from September 6 to 8 and features top talent in the arts, food and local design.

Waansin will see the sensational coloratura soprano Magdalene Minnaar interpret several scenes of madness from famous operas including Lucia di Lammermoor and Hamlet on Saturday, September 7. Among the works featured will also be 1894 by South African composer Braam du Toit.

Minnaar will be accompanied by Jose Diaz on piano, Bridget Rennie Salonen on flute and Cheryl de Havilland on cello. Diaz has also written new instrumental material deconstructed from the mad scenes that will be performed in between the arias.

Drostdy-Hof wines and delicious snacks will be served on September 7 from 18:30 in the historic De Oude Drostdy, the home of this internationally sold range.  The concert starts promptly at 19:30.

Tickets cost R150 per person and booking is essential as just 70 seats are available.
