Renowned Cape Town band, Blacksmith, have been offered a monthly musical residency with Catharina’s Restaurant at Steenberg, presenting an energetic inaugural performance on the 1st of September.
Blacksmith was formed in the early 1970’s, and has since become a benchmark band in the Cape Town music scene. With an eclectic mix of styles, ranging from Hard Rock, to Bluegrass, to Irish and Scottish Traditional, Blacksmith truly has something for every taste.

Band members change from time to time to keep Blacksmith’s sound fresh and innovative. Founding members Neil Harvey and Nielen Prinsloo are joined by occasional players including Terrence Scarr, James Hall, Stef Malherbe and many others.

“We are excited to take on this monthly residency at Catharina’s Restaurant. The eclectic and light-hearted atmosphere of the restaurant is the perfect setting for our sound, which is focused entirely on our audience’s enjoyment. The gig on Sunday, September 1st is going to be incredible – and is the first of many!” says Neil Harvey, one of the founding members of Blacksmith.

Catharina’s has recently been redesigned, with the dining space being transformed into a lively, sociable venue. Blacksmith’s sound and charisma will perfectly off-set the new atmospheric character of the venue.

“Blacksmith always inject a great dose of fun and liveliness into their performances. We know that their monthly Sunday evening shows will see our audience of diners into long evenings of singing, and eating!” says Ronel Smidt, General Manager of Catharina’s.

Catharina’s famous a la carte menu will be on offer, as well as Steenberg Vineyard’s outstanding collection of wines. To book a seat for an evening of fine-dining, wining and singing along, contact Catharina’s on: Tel: 021 713 2222 Email: catharinas@steenberghotel.com
