Visitors to the tasting room at Avontuur Estate often ask for tastings presented by the winemaker and the winery has therefore decided to offer intimate tutored tastings, based around a theme, every month on the second Thursday evening.

Winemaker Jan van Rooyen is looking forward to sharing his experience and the thinking behind each wine’s production, with a select group of 20 wine lovers on a regular basis.

The first tasting is on Thursday, 8 August at 18h30-20h00 and the theme is
“Burgundian Grapes”. Tasters will be introduced to various blends, single varietals and a bubbly, all made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Jan is planning to bring in some “sold-outs” as well as wines not yet released to present an overall view of the Estate’s award-winning wines, all based around this theme.

Bookings are essential with Nadia or Natalie in the tasting room at winery@avontuurestate.co.za or +27 21 855-3450. The cost is R75 pp which includes 6 wines and a light supper with coffee and something sweet afterwards.

The wines will be for sale on the night and we hope to make lots of friends for Avontuur with our new tastings, which are aimed to be informative without being too formal.
