For the very first
time, the South African Wine Tasting Championship is calling for all to test their
abilities at tasting wines. Wine lovers are finally the center of a wine event.
Registration opens on the first of August and the number of entries is limited.
The SAWTC will aim at two goals:
-
Recognise and Award the Top 50 Wine
tasters in South
Africa
-
Select Team
South Africa going to the World Blind Tasting Challenge
In the spirit of ongoing education, and in an
attempt to encourage new converts into the closed circle that is the wine
world, the SAWTC 2013 is allowing all
wine lovers to put their talents to the test.
In partnership with the Hilton Cape Town City Centre, the event is open to all over the age
of 18 and will take the format of a wine tasting presented by some of South Africa’s
greatest wineries. Then the competitors will enter the blind challenge area,
where they will try to recognize some of the wines they just tasted. This
benchmarking is much harder than it actually sounds!
Who are South Africa’s
TOP 50 WINE TASTERS?
Along with testing their palate memory at this blind
challenge, a knowledge quiz will assess their wine culture to select the best
of the best, making them Team South
Africa, going to the world championship.
Finding the diamonds in the rough, discovering
the naturally gifted wine fans and empowering the professional tasters of
tomorrow will be the legacy of the SAWTC. Among our winners might be the
replacement for Robert Parker, the new Jancis Robinson or the Platter’s tasting
team members of tomorrow.
Diarise the 31st
of August 2013 and join the best wine tasters of the country at the Hilton Cape Town City Centre.
