"The Du Toitskloof Pinotage Merlot Ruby Cabernet is one of the most
versatile wines I know and in my view offers unbeatable value at under R40 a
bottle," says chief winemaker of this well-known Breedekloof winery, Shawn
Thomson.
This medium-bodied wine with inviting raspberry and ripe red-berry
flavours with hints of spice and dried banana, spent six months in French oak,
resulting in a smooth, long fruity finish. Shawn says it is the ideal wine to
enjoy before and during a braai, or with smoked chicken, flavourful bredies and
venison pie.
The same wine that is in the 750ml bottle is also available in a 3-litre
bag-in-box which is equivalent to four bottles of wine. The box is recyclable,
very portable and convenient when camping, picnicking and hiking.
The wine is available from liquor outlets for about R32.50 per bottle
and about R75 for a 3-litre box.
