The Laingsburg Municipality published its by-law on liquor trading days and hours on the 19th of April 2013.
It came into operation on said date.

In terms of the by-law wineries may sell wine for consumption elsewhere between 09h00 and 18h00 Monday to Sunday.

Liquor stores, supermarkets and wine shops may sell from 09h00 to 18h00 Monday to Saturday and from 09h00 to 16h00 on Sunday.

Restaurants, clubs, bars and pubs may sell liquor from 11h00 to 02h00 Monday to Saturday and from 11h00 to 23h00 on Sunday.

Hotels and casino’s will be able to sell liquor 24 hours a day.

For special events,  liquor sales will be limited from 11h00 to 23h00 Monday to Thursday, from 11h00 to 24h00 Friday to Saturday, from 11h00 to 20h00 on Sunday.

According to Danie Cronje,  the Director of Liquor Law Services at Cluver Markotter Incorporated, the by-law provides for shorter hours for the sale of liquor for consumption on the premises, for an on- and off-consumption license than for a separate on-consumption license.  It is therefore unlikely that anyone would apply for the on- and off-consumption licence where both on- and off-consumption sales are required and would rather obtain separate licences thereby defeating the purpose of the Act of simplifying the licencing structure.
