The Raka Biography 2010 is joined by two different vintages of the Raka Quinary Bordeaux style blend this year. Both the Raka Quinary 2009 and Quinary 2010 were included in the Top 100 SA Wines, a fact of which Raka's winemaker Josef Dreyer is deservedly proud.
What makes Raka's owner, Piet Dreyer, equally proud is that both vintages of the Quinary was also chosen as two of only 7 Best Value Wines on the Top 100 list. Piet has always maintained that he wants to make wine that is "so good that everybody wants to drink it" but at the same time "inexpensive enough so that everybody can afford it." If not every day, then at least once or twice a year on special occasions. Now, with the Raka Quinary amongst Top 100 SA Wines but also a Top 100 Best Value Wine, he seems to have achieved just that.
