Why change? At the time of the merger between the then Stellenbosch Vineyards and Vinfruco in 2004, the shareholders decided not to use the name of either party. The new management team however felt that the current name served its purpose. They are also of the opinion that the term “Stellenbosch” has intrinsic marketing value and is well-known all over the world. ‘We are proud of our heritage dating back to 1690 and we want to convey that through our name,” says MD Eduan Steynberg.
“We are a company that has its roots in South Africa’s premier wine producing area, Stellenbosch. The name change is also symbolic of the fact that there will be a renewed focus on producing both top quality and value for money Wines of Origin Stellenbosch, particularly for our Welmoed and Credo labels.” All winemaking operations have been consolidated on Welmoed Estate, on the R310 just outside Stellenbosch.
Stellenbosch Vineyards’ website will be www.stellenboschvineyards.co.za and the new email addresses will have the domain of stellvine.co.za, for example info@stellvine.co.za.
