I can hardly believe we are almost in the third month of 2013! By the time you read this our White Zinfandel will be happily fermenting in the cellar and the harvest will be in full swing. Jazz Evening Enjoy the last of the late summer sunsets in the company of The Winelands Swinging Jazz Band with Klaus Baltin & friends. On the following Wednesdays: 13th, 20th and 27th this popular ensamble will be entertaining us from 17h30 - 21h00 on the Barouche Terrace - subject to weather. Entrance fee is R50 and the Tapas menu will be available on all these evenings. Blend it like Blaauwklippen Registration for the 30th Blaauwklippen Blending Competition opens 11 March 2013. This unique competition is open to all wine clubs, no expert wine knowledge is needed, just membership to a wine club, as well as a taste for good wine! The best newcomer will be honoured as well as the winning team, to give clubs who have never entered before recognition and to motivate them to enter. For 2013, entrants will receive a selection of four barrel matured wines: Merlot 2012, Malbec 2011, Cabernet Franc 2011 and Shiraz 2010. All four of these wines must be used in creating your blend, the Shiraz is limited to a maximum of 20% of the total blend. Closing Date for Registration The closing date for registration is Friday 19 April, the personal blend recipe from each club must then be submitted to Blaauwklippen by 21 June and the winning club will be announced on Friday 6 September 2013.
