Durbanville Hills
Whisper sweet nothings in your beloved’s ear when you head to Durbanville Hills Wines for a feast of Valentine’s Day treats on 14 February.
The Eatery at Durbanville Hills will be offering something for everyone whether it be a romantic picnic under the olive trees, lunch served either inside the newly refurbished restaurant or on the deck overlooking the magnificent valley, as well as a special Valentine’s Day three-course dinner.

The picnic baskets available over lunch and again in the evening include six oysters with two glasses of Pongrácz on arrival. Spread out and relax on the beautiful bespoke blankets and comfy pillows as you raise a toast to your loved one with a bottle of Durbanville Hills Merlot Rosé. The picnic basket includes artisanal bread, chicken liver paté and grape chutney, minted Moroccan salsa on nutty couscous, Grabouw sausage and red onion marmalade quiche, parmesan chicken on a garden fresh salad, a selection of cheeses and biscuits as well as a decadent dessert bag filled with Turkish delight, nougat and chocolate truffles.

Coffee and biscotti round-off your meal while an outdoor bar will offer wines, soft drinks and coffees for sale. The picnics are offered from 12:00 to 15.30 and again from 19:00 to 21:00. Cost is R420 per basket serving two and includes the use of a picnic blanket, cushions, cutlery, crockery and glassware.

Lunch will be served from the à la carte menu from 12:00 to 15:00 and includes a complimentary glass of Merlot Rosé on arrival. The special Valentine’s Day dinner includes a glass of Pongrácz and half a dozen oysters on arrival as well as a bottle of Merlot Rosé to enjoy with a choice of chef’s salad or a beetroot cured salmon salad with a citrus and dill dressing as the starter. For the main choose either the beef fillet with sage infused gnocchi, wild mushrooms and truffle sauce or pan-fried kingklip on a bed of flash-fried baby spinach, and a creamy Malay curry sauce.
