Giorgio Nava shines again at the Eat Out DSTV Food Network Awards

Successful restaurateur Giorgio Nava’s stylish Carne SA is recognised as the 'Best Steakhouse' in South Africa at the 2012 Eat Out Dstv Food Network Restaurant Awards.
After an outstanding year having won a string of international accolades, chef, Giorgio Nava, took to the stage at this year’s Eat Out DStv Food Network Restaurant Awards to receive his much-deserved acknowledgement that his is the best, most authentic Steakhouse restaurant in South Africa.

As Abigail Donnelly, head judge at this year's Eat Out Awards enthused about Carne SA at the Awards ceremony, 'Where the meat makes your heart skip a beat!'

The usually self-effacing chef has an understandable glow of pleasure about him after this evening's awards thanks to his award win. Opened in 2008 Giorgio took the concept of meat appreciation to a new level with his ultra-stylish Cape Town city space and the results have been phenomenal – a full restaurant every evening speaks for itself.

While South Africans certainly recognise his culinary abilities, the eyes of international judges have been on Giorgio for the past few years too. In 2011, his first South African restaurant 95 Keerom was awarded runner up in the Africa and Middle East category in the International Birra Moretti Best Authentic Italian Restaurant Awards. This was followed by a prestigious invitation to lecture at the illustrious Identità Golose gourmet food event in Italy earlier this year while in June this year; Giorgio was once again recognised for his skill at the World Pasta Championships where he achieved a perfect score from the judges.

Where to from here? For Giorgio that’s an easy question. Back to work of course at both Carne SA and 95 Keerom as well as his chic pasticceria & bar Caffe Milano. A man who lives for creating perfectly balanced plates of authentic food – Giorgio Nava’s dedication to perfection is our pleasure.
