The nominees were shortlisted by a panel of industry-related professionals across a variety of categories and, for the first time, voting was opened to the public to see who they felt were the best of the best. Thousands of enthusiastic consumers provided instantaneous feedback on their wineland experiences via Facebook, twitter and email. Pierneef à La Motte received Wine Tourism SA's 'Gourmand' award for Best Gourmet Restaurant at the cellar door. The 'Gourmand' award goes to the best of the best cellar-door restaurants in the Cape Winelands, those gastronomic destinations with signature chefs who create cuisine on the cutting edge.
