Two Platter 5 Stars for Raka

Raka
Raka's Dreyer  family is celebrating  their 10th year in the wine industry, and what better way to do this than a 5 Star rating in the John Platter Wine Guide for two of their wines.
The Raka Biography 2010 received a 5 Star rating, much to the joy of winemaker Josef Dreyer. The Biography is no new-comer to the Platter 5 Star galaxy. The Raka Biography 2004 (made by Theresa Fourie) was also awarded 5 Stars.  This honour has eluded Josef thus far, even though the Raka Biography Shiraz 2007, from his first vintage as Raka’s winemaker, received the trophy for best red wine on show at the 2008 Michelangelo International Wine Awards.

The second Raka wine that earned 5 Stars is the Raka Cabernet Franc 2009. Originally planted to be blended into the popular Raka Quinary, this vintage of Cabernet Franc caught the eye (or rather nose) of the winemaker. He then decided to bottle a limited amount as a single variety, to be used in the Raka Luxus Collection which is a presentation pack of the Quinary and its five components in single variety.

Both these wines have not been released yet, but can be ordered from the cellar pre-release.  It should be available in wine-shops from April 2013.
