Malachites Restaurant
Make your own wine at Malachite’s Restaurant on Saturday, 23rd February 2002

For several years patrons of Môreson have flock to the picturesque riverside wine farm in the Franschhoek Valley to make their own wine during the Blessing of the Harvest. For the first time Môreson will be hosting a similar Blessing of the Harvest in Johannesburg and invite winelovers to come to Malachite’s Restaurant on Saturday, 23rd February for a fun filled occasion.

The day starts at 11h30 with a glass of Môreson’s Methode Cap Classique Sparkling Wine followed by a tasting of Môreson’s wines. Môreson are transporting freshly harvested grapes to Johannesburg so that their guests at Malachite’s Restaurant can enjoy a traditional barefoot pressing of the grapes. There will be prizes for those who press the most wine from a basket of grapes. Guests can also enter their wine label designs in a competition.

The best design will be used as the official label of the 2002 Blessing of the Harvest wine. Môreson’s winemaker will complete the winemaking process and specially bottle this wine for the participants at a later date. The pressing will be followed by a harvest feast at Malachite’s Restaurant.

Date: Saturday, 23rd February 2002
Venue: Malachite’s Restaurant, Maritime Place, 71 Romney Road, Chartwell
Cost: R200 per head excluding drinks but including a bottle of the wine produced on the day which will be available at a later date.
